What to Expect Once the 2018 Nissan Leaf is Released

2018 Nissan Leaf New model covered

Make sure you keep the Nissan Leaf on your radar! Once the second generation Leaf is introduced for public sale, many think it will become one of the top competitors in its class and change the automotive market drastically for the better. To learn more about what this anticipated Nissan has to offer, read below!

2018 Nissan Leaf New Features

There are several new and innovative features you should expect to see in the 2018 Nissan Leaf. A new semi-autonomous function called “ProPILOT” will allow the car to complete many tasks without the driver’s assistance. This will provide the vehicle with similar auto features as Tesla Autopilot vehicles! Nissan has described the 2018 Leaf as having, “driver-assistance technology that supports drivers by helping control acceleration breaking and steering during single-lane driving on the highway.” Simply put, this vehicle has the inherent capability to keep the car in the lane, and it maintains proper distance to the vehicle in front when driving on the highway. These features would most likely be classified as level two autonomy.

ProPILOT assistance is “single lane”, meaning the feature does not offer automatic lane changing – yet. This is one notable difference from Tesla’s autopilot system. Nissan claimed in a press release in 2017 that “A multi-lane autonomous driving technology will enable automatic lane changes on highways and is planned for introduction in 2018.” We’re still waiting to see if this will be ready for sale in the 2018 Nissan Leaf.

Nissan Leaf Design

The Nissan Leaf has a front and end similar to the rest of the hatchback style to other Nissans on the market. It looks as though the design for the vehicle itself was influenced by the Nissan IDS concept. Launched at the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle, the Nissan Left continues to sell incredibly well with over 270,000 units sold worldwide. Drivers definitely love this amazing Nissan vehicle.

The 2018 Leaf will likely include a front camera, electric parking break, EPS steering control, and other new features first showcased in the Nissan Serena minivan last year. Check why the Nissan Leaf is the right choice for you and your family.
