The Ice Flyers’ 2019 to 2020 season runs from now until springtime, with their final home game on April 4. When the team hosts home games, they hit the rink at the Pensacola Bay Center. As Escambia County’s premier event space, the venue accommodates the Ice Flyers’ games with convenient concession areas and seating for more than 8,000 fans. The center is located at 201 E Gregory Street, Pensacola, Florida 32502.
The 2019-2020 Season
The current season includes 28 home games, and the majority will be on Saturday evenings. That ensures that you’ll have plenty of opportunities to watch Pensacola’s own hockey team go head to head with the toughest names in the Southern Professional Hockey League. In the coming months, you’ll see challenging matchups against the Macon Mayhem, Roanoke Rail Yard Dowgs, Birmingham Bulls, and others.
The Season So Far
This year marks the 11th season that the Ice Flyers have played in the competitive SPHL, and the team has built some serious momentum going in to 2020. The athletes have performed impressively well both at home and away, with rallying plays and exciting overtime clinches. Earlier in November, Blake Young was named SPHL Warrior Player of the Week, celebrating his last-minute scores and rapid-fire goals against the Bulls. Days later, Tomasso Bucci saved the game with a final-seconds goal, sealing a five to four win over the Quad Cities Storm.
Theme Nights
Hockey is the quintessential spectator sport, and going to an Ice Flyers game is always an exciting experience. Each season, fans look forward to the various theme nights, special games with unique jerseys and events. This year, the Ice Flyers have added new theme nights to the schedule, including a Nickelodeon night with Ninja Turtles jerseys, a Mossy Oak night with camo, and a Marvel Super Hero night with jerseys repping Captain America, Black Panther, and Iron Man. Fan favorite nights will also return, like Mardi Gras night and Small Dog Race night.
