You already love the Nissan Rogue for its compact size and impressive array of features. For the 2017 model year, Nissan is adding yet another great configuration to this crossover SUV, a hybrid powertrain. The 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid is one of the first vehicles to receive a hybrid powertrain in Nissan’s overarching plan to enhance its fuel-efficient lineup. In addition to the new hybrid option, the Rogue is seeing updates to its features and fascias.
Hybrid Powertrain and Efficiency
If you choose to take advantage of the highly efficient 2017 Rogue Hybrid, you will get a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine that works with a 30-kilowatt electric motor. Together, these systems give you 176 combined horsepower, a full 6 horses more than the non-hybrid Rogue. You will also be able to choose from front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive for the newest Nissan Hybrid. Regardless of the drivetrain you choose, expect the Rogue Hybrid to add 5 mpg to the gas mileage of the standard Rogue. Taking into account the EPA’s stricter ratings for 2017 models, the front-wheel-drive Rogue Hybrid gets 34 mpg* combined while the all-wheel drive version gets 33 mpg*.
Other 2017 Nissan Rogue Hybrid Differences
Other than its powertrain and efficiency, the 2017 Rogue Hybrid will be very similar to the non-hybrid version. Most hybrid models on the market dramatically reduce cargo space. However, Nissan did some careful planning to make sure that was not the case for the Rogue. Behind the second row of seats, the Rogue Hybrid only loses 1.1 cubic feet. Behind the first row, this figure drops to a tiny 0.2 cubes, an amount you are unlikely to notice. Keep in mind that you can’t get the Divide-N-Hide cargo system on the Rogue Hybrid or add the optional third row of seats that is available on the standard powertrain models.
