It’s almost an unwritten rule: If you live near the Gulf Coast, you must appreciate good seafood. And why wouldn’t you? The region is teeming with seafood restaurants and dives where nothing but the freshest fish will do. You order the catch of the day with confidence, knowing that it is just that: just caught, cooked fresh, served up piping hot and delicious. It’s perhaps no surprise that such a delicacy as fresh Gulf seafood gets its own festival each year. This year marks the 41st Annual Destin Seafood Festival, which takes place October 4, 5, and 6. Don’t miss it!
Festival Overview
Free of charge and fun for all, the Destin Seafood Festival is a no-holds-barred celebration of the bounty of the ocean that Floridians hold so dear. But great food is not all this festival is about – it also celebrates the rich history of the Destin Harbor. At the festival, you’ll enjoy delicious food, arts and crafts, kids’ activities, and plenty of live music – in other words, all the things that make a festival as festive as it should be.
The Food
A variety of local food vendors will be on hand at the festival to satisfy your every craving – even those that go beyond the sea. Harbor Restaurants include Big Red Grill & Big Red Truck, Dewey Destin Harborside, Brotula’s Seafood House and Steamer, Tailfins Alehouse & Oyster Bar, and Landshark’s Pizza. HarborWalk Village restaurants include Crab Island Cantina, Margaritaville, Fishheads, and Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi.
Music and More
Six stages will host energetic live performances from musicians like AJ Ghent, Blackberry Breeze, Deja Vu Band, Flash Flood, Jason Findley, The Shakedown, and many more. Close out the festival with a whole afternoon of reggae music at HarborWalk Village on Sunday. Stages will be located at AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar (two stages), Boathouse Oyster Bar (two stages), and The Harbor Tavern.
For the younger festival-goers, there will be two separate Kids Zones. The one at East Pass Marina is geared toward the littlest visitors, with pony rides, a petting zoo, and games. The one at HarborWalk Village has a rock climbing wall, hamster balls, and a zip line. Another fun event, the Kids Mingo Toss, will be located behind the Destin City Stage at Royal Melvin Heritage Park.
