Support Storm Victims & Veterans with These Weekend Events

Storm Relief Concert & Oktoberfest

Two events that are happening this weekend give you the chance to have fun and help your community all at once.

Friday

Oktoberfest Pub Crawl for Charity

First, attend the 1st Annual Oktoberfest Pub Crawl hosted by Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village on Friday, Sept. 15.

For $10, this pub crawl gives you access to drink specials at restaurants like Fishheads, Jester Mardi Gras, and Coyote Ugly Saloon. It starts at 6 p.m. and goes for as long as you can last. You can buy tickets online, and it’s also a good idea to book a room at Emerald Grande so you can rest easy after a long night of libations.

Benefitting the EOD Warrior Foundation

The bar crawl benefits the EOD Warrior Foundation. This charity provides support for military members and veterans of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal division. This is one of the most dangerous divisions of the armed forces and can require significant sacrifices. Your participation in this event will make sure that members of the EOD and their families receive the support they need beyond what the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs are able to provide.

Sunday

While the Emerald Coast stayed safe from Hurricane Irma’s path this week, other areas of the state were not as fortunate. Join together with fellow coastal dwellers, and support the storm relief efforts by attending the Bands of 30A: Storm Relief Concert.

Gulf Place Storm Relief Concert

On Sunday, Sept. 17, area residents will gather to attend the Bands of 30A: Storm Relief Concert. The event will take place at the Gulf Place Amphitheatre 1 p.m.–6 p.m.

See seven different bands perform throughout the afternoon as you celebrate Florida community and raise money for those affected by the 2017 storm season. A $10 entry donation is requested, and 100 percent of the proceeds from this event will go directly to relief efforts assisting displaced families. Children under 12 are admitted free of charge.

To help even more, you can donate blood at the OneBlood Bus that will be on site. There’s a big need for donors right now. The bus will be there from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There’s a lot to see at this event, so why not grab a bite to eat in between? Grayton Beach Catering will have plated dinners for sale and will be donating profits directly to the relief fund.

The designated relief charity for this event is Matthew 25 Ministries. This charity is helping some of the most impoverished areas of the state by distributing cleaning and personal care products. Matthew 25 also partners with the Loads of Hope Tide Truck to provide clean garments for those affected by the storms.
