If you’re not familiar with the Eggs on the Beach event, you might be wondering why we’re talking Easter in September. We’re not – this isn’t that kind of egg. This event centers on the Big Green Egg, the popular smoker/grill that loyal fans (a.k.a. “EggHeads”) swear produces some of the tastiest foods you’ll ever have the pleasure to sample.
Eggs on the Beach, therefore, is a grilling competition featuring these cooking contraptions that takes place at Seascape Resort in Miramar Beach, FL. This year’s EggFest will be held on Saturday, September 29 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. During that time, both cooks and tasters can enjoy the scenic coastal setting, resort amenities; a cash bar selling beer, wine, and soda; and live music.
A Tasty Competition
Cooks bring their own food and cook their standout dishes on the Big Green Egg that’s supplied to each team in the competition. As for the lucky tasters? Their job is to sample those delicious dishes and vote on their favorites.
Each cooking team of up to six members competes for bragging rights and prizes including the following:
- The People’s Choice grand prize is a large Big Green Egg with nest (over $1,000 value).
- Second place gets a medium Big Green Egg.
- Runner-up gets a Mini-Max portable Big Green Egg.
- Prizes will also be awarded for Best Booth Display and Best Bite Cooked with Knob Creek Bourbon.
- A panel of celebrity judges will present first, second, and third place trophies for their favorite dishes.
Taster tickets are $32.50 per adult and $14 per child (ages 11 to 17) in advance. Children 10 and under are free with a paid adult. Prices go up the day of the event.
