Experience a Helicopter Drop Easter Egg Hunt at The Henderson

Easter Egg Hunt

For kids, one of the most exciting aspects of Easter is the famed egg hunt. In modern times, the tradition has evolved from finding elaborately-decorated hardboiled eggs to locating plastic eggs filled with treats. This year, Destin is putting a new spin on what it means to find an egg.

Make memories with your family, and bring them to the Helicopter Drop Easter Egg Hunt this Sunday.

The Egg Hunt

On Sunday, April 1, The Henderson Beach Resort hosts an event you won’t want to miss. The Helicopter Easter Egg Drop will take place at 12:30 p.m. on the resort’s front lawn. If you plan to attend church or have brunch first, this should give you plenty of time to do so before the drop. Once the helicopter releases the flurry of plastic eggs, children will be free to run and collect the prizes and see what candy lies inside.

Don’t forget to bring your Easter baskets, and take plenty of pictures!

Before or after the Egg Drop, consider stopping by The Henderson’s restaurant and exploring the resort’s luxurious amenities.

Why Eggs?

There are a couple of different theories on the origins of painting hardboiled eggs as an Easter tradition. Some say that it comes from ancient traditions, with the egg serving a symbol of new life in the spring. In Christianity, the egg’s shell is symbolic of the sealed Tomb of Christ. Breaking the shell represents Jesus’ resurrection.

As for the tradition of hiding the eggs, this is just a fun way for children to experience a little joy on Easter. It’s not new, either. In fact, the oldest record of the egg hunt dates back to Protestant Christian Reformer Martin Luther.
