Have a Blast Watching Fireworks at the Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island

Colorful fireworks at Okaloosa Island Fireworks

Love fireworks and can’t seem to get enough of them? Just because Independence Day has passed doesn’t mean that fireworks are over. Head to Okaloosa Island on a Wednesday. You can watch beautiful fireworks on the Boardwalk at Okaloosa Island.

Perfect Viewing Spots

The Okaloosa Island Fireworks started May 31st and go until August 9th, taking place every single Wednesday. If you miss those, there is one last chance to catch the show for Labor Day, September 3rd. Each Wednesday, the fireworks begin at 9 p.m. Be sure to check them out, because they’re a great sight to see! The best viewing spot is from the boardwalk, but you will still get excellent views from the sand. So bring a picnic chair or a blanket, find a comfortable spot, and get ready for gorgeous colors appearing in the sky above you.

Although the displays start at 9 p.m., it doesn’t hurt to get there early so you can get a good viewing spot. Sit right on the sand or bring your beach chairs.

Enjoy a Meal or Dessert Before the Show

If you are coming from Fort Walton Beach, you may want to get to Okaloosa Island a bit early and get a bite to eat. Even though the drive is only a few minutes, this gives you the chance to eat a meal with an ocean view. Get a burger at Al’s Beach Club Burger Bar, some seafood at The Crab Trap or Floyd’s Shrimp House, or Mexican food at Rockin Tacos. You could even go a bit more upscale with Black Pearl Island Grill. If you just need a dessert, stop at Pino Gelato for a range of flavors.

Other Fun Activities on Okaloosa Island

It won’t take you long to get to Okaloosa Island, but if you want to get there early to find parking, consider spending some time on the beach. Did you bring the kids along? Take them to the new splash pad right behind Al’s Beach Club and Burger Bar! There’s also live music at this restaurant every night for you to enjoy.

If you came with a large group, have one member of your group claim a stretch of beach with a blanket or set of chairs while you go have fun or go shopping. Or you can just stroll along the Boardwalk and explore the various boutiques and beautiful views. Of course, there are also the standby beach activities, such as making a sandcastle, wading in the water, or just relaxing and enjoying the atmosphere. The opportunities for fun are endless!

Our team at Lee Nissan Fort Walton Beach can help you choose a car to take you, your family, and your beach gear to Okaloosa Island from Fort Walton Beach to take advantage of the weekly fireworks. You don’t want to miss out on this Florida fun; where else can you watch fireworks while sitting in the sand?
