Get a jump start on celebrating our nation’s independence this year when you attend the highly anticipated Smoke on the Coast BBQ and Fireworks Festival at Destin Commons. This ninth annual event is set for Wednesday, July 3, from 5 to 9 p.m. With live music, lip-smacking barbecue, and dazzling fireworks, this party delights the senses and deserves a spot on your family’s list of traditions.
The Barbecue
Nothing says summer like a good old-fashioned barbecue cook-off. And at Smoke on the Coast, you can count on getting to sample some incredible dishes. There are 18 teams participating, each representing a charity. The teams will prepare and serve up their flavor-packed takes on the best barbecue around – each one available to sample for just $1!
Once you’ve done some tasting your way around the competitors, you’ll be able to cast your vote for People’s Choice winners. More than $85,000 in donations will be awarded to the charities associated with the cooking competitors. Check out just a few of the great partnerships between charities and cook-off teams:

Fireworks, Music, and More
As mouthwatering as the barbecue offerings are, people look forward to this festival for other things, too. The evening features live musical performances, with special guests Forrest Williams Band from 5 to 7 p.m. and Heritage Band from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. And, of course, there’s the dazzling fireworks extravaganza that finishes off the fun-filled evening with a bang.
